Winter Escapade II | Helsinki

Winter Escapade II | Helsinki

It's close to mid year and before we get into the post, just wanna share with you my resolutions I made at the start of the year!

  1. Travelling – To explore more places in 2018 (This is probably my lifetime resolution 🀣 )
  2. Self-Discovery – To find myself in this midst of career decision (To be a photographer? To be a Tourism Professional? To be an Entrepreneur?)
  3. Living In The Moment – To keep good and positive vibes with my experiences, friends and loved ones.
  4. Responsibility – To take on the helm as the only child and ensure my parents’ well-being as they have just retired.
  5. Education – To be consistent with my grades (hopefully landing my scholarships applications) and graduate with a First-Class.

What are some of your resolutions? Share it with me in the comment box below! Would love to hear them!

Alright! Let’s get to it!

Welcome to Helsinki, the capital of Finland. A Baltic state beautifully entwined with bays, islands with boulevards of opulent architecture, gastronomic delicacies and an inch closer to Santa Claus πŸŽ…πŸ».

How do you get there?

By Air πŸ›¬ β€“ Budget airlines such as Easyjet / Norwegian / Air Baltic are the better options for cheap flights! (Ranging from Β£70-100 with return)

 Alternatively, you can grab flights with British Airways or Finnair but at a higher price.

By Sea 🚒 – If you’re coming from countries such as Estonia / Russia / Sweden, you can grab a ferry ticket at Β£15-20 (prices varies across seasons and destination) **Price was based from Estonia

Where Should I Stay?

Accomodation wise, I’d strongly suggest staying in hostels as Hotels are pretty pricey for students – especially in Finland.

A good recommendation would be
Cheap Sleep Hostel (Β£15 / pax/night)

Vanha Kauppahalli

Bay Area

Where to go?

Here are some places we visited during our day trip in Helsinki!

1. Vanha Kauppahalli (Old Market Hall) – A good food place!
2. Johanneksenkirkko (St.John’s Church)
3. Helsinki Christmas Market
4. Helsingin Tuomiokirkko (Helsinki Cathedral)

More places you can consider to visit

* Linnanmaki (Amusement Park)
* Suomenlinna (Finland’s Fortress)
* Ateneum (Finland’s Gallery)

If you’re an avid fan of museums and galleries and spending more than a day in Helsinki I’d suggest getting the Tourist Card. Definitely saving time and money!

Though it was a short day trip to Helsinki, it was a great experience! Definitely would love to go back to visit other places but…probably when I got more money (Because its really expensive πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ).

This is the end of Part II Winter-Escapade series! Will be planning the content for Part III – Lapland and share my amazing experience with you!
